Please find our frequently asked questions below. If you have any further inquiries, please feel free to contact Dr. Dave if you have anymore questions.

1. What’s the difference between a Virtual and Email consultation?

A Virtual consultation is a face-to-face consult conducted via Zoom. You will have the chance to talk to the doctor in real time. An email consultation is conducted via email between 24-48 hours after I have received all patient records/information (which are provided by the patient). In either situation the doctor will review the information you send and, if possible, provide you with a second opinion and possible treatment options.

2. Why get a second opinion online vs. going to another dental office?

The overwhelming benefit of getting an online second opinion is convenience. If you choose an email consultation you will have a second opinion between 24-48 hours, after receiving your records and/or dental information. Further, with an online second opinion, you avoid the hassle of having to make an appointment at another dental office, take time off of work or out of your busy day, and you avoid incurring additional costs of X-rays and a doctor’s exam. By choosing a virtual consultation you have the flexibility of scheduling an appointment that works best for your schedule. SecondOpinionSmile.com offers virtual appointments during the day but also in the evenings. And of course, you have the same conveniences previously mentioned.

3. What if I don’t have any X-rays or don’t have access to them?

You don’t have to have access to recently taken x-rays to have a second opinion done. Obviously, the more information we have, the better we can understand your situation and the better we can help you. That being said, there are numerous dental issues that aren’t detected with X-rays. For example, a cosmetic issue wouldn’t necessarily require a set of X-rays.

4. How soon will I be contacted?

Once you request a consultation on our website, you will be contacted that same business day unless it is after 5pm. If you make a request after 5pm, you will be contacted the next business day.

5. Are appointment times flexible? Outside of work hours?

Consultations are available Monday through Friday between 7am and 9 pm EST. We want to be available to patients nationwide so we are offering after-work hours for East and West coast patients.

6. Can I reschedule my Virtual appointment?

Yes, you can reschedule your virtual consultation/appointment if necessary. We ask that you wait 24 hours from the time that you submit your documentation before scheduling your consultation, to give the doctor enough time to review your case. If you need to reschedule your virtual consultation, please contact us for a new Calendly (the program used for scheduling) link. If you reschedule more than twice you will forfeit your consultation fee and will have to repay in order to schedule again. secondopinionsmile.com wants to respect others who are trying to schedule appointments, and their time.

7. Does insurance or secondary insurance cover this?

We do not submit anything to primary or secondary insurance companies. This also includes companies such as Aflac.

8. What if there are additional questions after the consultation?

Each consultation, whether virtual or email, includes a follow up email where additional questions can be asked. Answers will come via email.

9. Do I need any special software to upload records or X-rays?

All documentation (X-rays, photos, records) can be scanned or simply sent as an email attachment. No special software is necessary.
